This months meeting we were blessed by local artist Mike Brangoccio.
Mike’s work hung in the First Assembly Gallery space this summer and he came to speak about his work and how God was using him. The entire time he was speaking I kept thinking the word “unexpected.” I had no idea how much God wanted to say to us all through Mike. I didn’t expect the magnitude of his message to impact me and the people around me the way it did. We didn’t just hear about art, but how we are God’s children and He is here. We are going to be ok. Our second meeting was very exciting! This month we
had people bring in their work. What a variety we had-
just like God has created us. I am constantly blown away
how creative God is and what gifts he gives his children
simply because he loves us. Not everyone brought in
something but I know all were inspired. What really blew
me away was knowing most of these people for years and
not knowing they were such creative artists this whole
time! Ilene Bartos is an amazing quilter who has her own
book, Kris Hill brought her portfolio from her days of

Well, our new Arts Community has started with a bang!
Artist Bill Butler was so gracious to be our first artist in Des Moines First’s new gallery, as well as blessing us by letting the entire congregation watch him worship paint. Bill is a local artist heavily involved in furthering the Kingdom through his art. To learn more about him go to his website, www.thomaslift.com.
