Over the past weeks I’ve written that in order to cope with all the changes we face, it is important to know the things that do not change. God’s love never changes and God’s word will never change. Today I want to add a third unchanging essential. GOD’S PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE WILL NEVER CHANGE.
Have you notice that our plans often get changed? Why? One of the reasons is we cannot see the future. Several years ago Elli and I had made plans for a three day get-a-away. It didn’t happen because something prevented us from leaving town. Circumstances beyond our control that we could not predict, kept us from our plans. Another reason our plans get changed is we do not always have the power or resources to pull them off.
Contrast that with God. God never has to change His plans. Why? There are 3 reasons. 1) God is all knowing; 2) God is all powerful; 3) God is Omnipresent. Long before you and I were born, God planned that we would be transformed into the image of His Son.
Romans 8:28-32 (NIV)
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
His plan for you has never changed. Since God created you for a purpose and His plan doesn’t change, let me address three important questions:
1. Can I miss God’s purpose for my life? One word answer – yes. Of course you can miss it. A lot of people do miss God’s purpose for their life. You miss it by neglect. You can miss it by arrogance which is to choose your plan over His plan. People miss it by disobedience or laziness. God does not force His purpose on us. Choosing God’s plan is a choice.
2. Can I get back on track after making the wrong choice? Absolutely! Because God’s plans are unchanging you can align yourself with his purpose. Regardless of what has happened in your life God has not given up on you.
3. What about the dumb things I’ve done? When you make that decision to follow God’s plan, He works all of those things into the mix. Romans 8:28 doesn’t say some things work for the good it says “all things. “ And it doesn’t’ indicate that all things are good. It states in all things God words for good. Is that for everybody? No, this a only a promise for those who are following God’s purpose and plan.
God’s purpose for your life will not change. God’s word is unchanging and His love for you is unconditional that will never change. So in a fast changing world here are the ABC’s of confidence:
1. Accept God’s love,
2. Believe God’s word,
3. Commit to God’s purpose in your life.
I’ve always being open for the changes that God has brought to my life, as a matter of fact, I’ve just notticed that nowadays I write more in english than in my native spanish. – Different country, different people, I’ve learn to live with the expectancy of what good things God has in store for me, every day I want to grow in God’s way, and that implies change, now, to grow in God ways, I need to work in my core set of values, and those I’ve found in the Bible, great thing was mentioned sunday during service. “I am now being mentored by the best teacher there is” and that is the Lord our God through his Word.
I always beleive that the better days are still to come, God loves us and He takes pleasure in blessing us.
Change is part of life, change is part of God’s plan, has being, will always be.
